Featuring the University of Wisconsin & UHR Korea
Hanmin High School successfully hosted a special global career seminar on December 23 for 26 gifted students and 4 teachers from its sister school, Sisovat NGS (New Generation School) in Cambodia.
The program was designed to provide high-achieving international students with practical guidance on U.S. higher education pathways and long-term global career planning. The seminar consisted of two main sessions:
- An overview of academic opportunities at the University of Wisconsin, and
- A U.S. permanent residency information session presented by UHR Korea, focusing on legal and strategic pathways for international students planning to study and work in the United States.
During the session, students learned about the academic strengths of the University of Wisconsin, its diverse range of majors, strong industry connections, and career-oriented education model. In addition, the seminar addressed one of the most critical concerns for international students—how to build a sustainable future in the U.S. after graduation, including lawful residency and career continuity.
Participants showed strong interest in understanding a comprehensive roadmap that connects education, employment, and long-term settlement, rather than viewing overseas study as a short-term experience.
The day held special meaning for the visiting Cambodian students, many of whom had expressed a wish to see snow for the first time. Coinciding with the seminar, snowfall transformed the campus into a winter landscape, creating a memorable and joyful experience. Students shared their excitement at witnessing snow in person, describing it as a once-in-a-lifetime moment beyond textbooks and images.
A representative from Hanmin High School stated,
“This event went beyond a standard school visit. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to explore global career possibilities while engaging in authentic cultural exchange. We will continue to strengthen international partnerships that help students broaden their perspectives and prepare for a global future.”
The seminar stands as a strong example of educational collaboration between Korea and Cambodia, contributing to the expansion of global pathways for gifted students across Asia.
