Currently, as AI technology has been improving increasingly, robotic surgery by AI is a hot potato. Through experiencing rapidly evolving society, many people predict that even docters may be replaced by AI, reinforced by opinion of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who stated that docters will be replaced by humanoid robots by 2030. However, some informations may be inaccurate or overestimated. To catch a most objective and accurate view on current robotic surgery, this research had a comprehensive literature review on robotic surgery

Over the past several decades, robotic surgical systems have undergone significant development driven by innovations in technology and expanding clinical applications. Continuous improvements have been made in instrument precision, mechanical design, and visualization technologies.

Robotic surgery is widely utilized across multiple surgical specialties, particularly in:

  • Urology
  • Gynecology
  • General surgery
  • Otolaryngology
  • Cardiothoracic surgery
  • Neurosurgery

Advantages

  • Improved Access: Provides enhanced access to complex anatomical regions.
  • 3D Visualization: Offers stereoscopic imaging that improves depth perception.
  • Smaller Incisions: Enables minimally invasive procedures with faster recovery and reduced complication rates.

Limitations and Considerations
